The Society for Military History has taken a positive step forward in its engagement with the academic community through social media with the launch of its own blog. To borrow the blurb from Mark Grimsley’s positing on the Society’s Facebook group:
The Society for Military History now has a group blog, which can be found at http://smh-hq.org/smhblog/. Contributors include LTC Robert Bateman, Brett Holman, Jamel Ostwald, Brian Sandberg, and Mark Grimsley. The maiden posts are now online. Future posts will be published on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays one week, then Tuesdays and Thursdays on the next, then back to Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and so on. The blog will address all aspects of academic military history. Go take a look, and drop by frequently!
Social media is an excellent method for building connections and links within the historical community and I for one am looking forward to future developments including their planned Twitter account. The blog can be found here.
P.S. If you are a military historian and are not as member of the society, you really should be 😉 You can find details of how to join here.
