I have been following with interest a few friends and colleagues using Facebook pages for key historical figures. Notably I have ‘liked’ pages relating to Lieutenant-General Sir Aylmer Hunter-Weston and Field Marshal Sir Henry Wilson. The good thing about Facebook pages is that you can add up to date news as well as adding historical milestones.

To this end I have created a page dedicated to the ‘Father of the Royal Air Force‘, Marshal of the Royal Air Force Viscount Trenchard of Wolfeton. It is a bit of an experiment in utilising social media as a source of public history and we shall see how it progresses. In many respects it is a mix of post-blogging and news items. I have started adding some historical information from the London Gazette and will add more news items as they appear.

You can find the page here.
